In our kickoff meeting with the SLU Hospital Marketing Team, they requested a site that was “clean, patient-focused, welcoming, comprehensive, and easy to navigate.” They noticed that many of their competitor’s websites were too sterile and generic and wanted their new site to give hope. To accomplish these goals we incorporated a warm color scheme, friendly photography, and uplifting content. The site is also built to feature true SLU Hospital success stories on the home page as they become available so future patients will feel a sense of trust and familiarity with the doctors and procedures involved.
With the profound subject of cardiology at hand we did a lot of research, learning and generating inspiration mostly from children’s hospitals, and testimonials from the hospital itself. We created a number of different site maps and implemented one that would direct content fluidly and encourage easy reading. One challenge was learning how to design better for an elderly target demographic. We kept everything clear and simple, utilized the top header navigation, and included an intelligent site search capability.
