“Creative, curious, compassionate.”
Where did you grow up?
“Arnold, MO, home of the iconic, sea green water tower.”
What do you do at Matchbox Design Group?
“I’m the graphic designer: the pretty picture maker, the color palette producer, the icon innovator, the layout generator.”
What do you like most about working here?
“The people! When you work at Matchbox, you work with a close-knit group of people who are funny, brilliant and dedicated. I love the environment, the ability to brainstorm and collaborate closely as a team.”
What did you do before working at Matchbox Design Group?
“Before I started working at Matchbox, I was a student at Maryville University majoring in graphic design. My last year at Maryville, I started interning at Matchbox which eventually led to my full-time employment here.”
What do you do in your spare time?
“I’m an active member of the Arnold Community Theatre Troupe where I dedicate my time by acting, directing and writing one-act scripts. I also love playing board games with my family/fiance, reading anything I can get my hands on and writing. That and the odd marshmallow gun battle or lightsaber duel with my siblings ….”
Favorite St. Louis activity/restaurant/spot?
“I’d have to say Forest Park, because there’s so much to do there. With a family full of theatre kids, we usually go to the Muny at least once over the summer. I also love the St. Louis Zoo! Elephants are my weakness.”
A Little More About Sarah King
Digital/design/dev trend you are most excited about in 2015?
“Big typography, storytelling and simplicity on the web. A lot of these things have already started shaping up over the last few years, but I love clean, compassionate design.”
Special talent you have?
“Acting I suppose? I have a bit of a gift with accents/voices and once performed in a mad-cap rendition of Cinderella with voices for all the different characters (including a one-eyed, one-armed Scottish bodyguard).”
Famous person you’ve met?
“My dad’s friend aka “towel man” from the St. Louis Blues games.”
What’s something awesome about you that no one else knows?
“I’m attempting to fulfill my childhood dream of writing a novel. 20,000 words down, so many more to go … I also have extremely vivid, lucid dreams. So much so, that I can describe a person or a place to you in detail even though I’ve only seen them in a dream.”
