Describe yourself in 3 words.
“Adventurous, Passionate and Goofy”
Where did you grow up?
“I grew up in Elgin, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. I lived in the same house my entire life until I moved away for college. It was an old Victorian fixer-upper which I’m convinced is haunted.”
What do you do at Matchbox Design Group?
“I do both SEO and content development.”
What do you like most about working here?
“I love working with such a unique and talented team of individuals. They’re always eager to share helpful advice, creative ideas and extremely cheesy puns.”
What did you do before working at Matchbox Design Group?
“I worked as an Account Manager at Yelp in downtown Chicago. I wanted to transition to a more marketing focused position and escape the brutal Chicago winters so I moved out to St. Louis in August 2018. I have a background in Journalism which comes in handy when writing content for our clients. I’m excited to be here at Matchbox because there’s always something new to learn.”
What do you do in your spare time?
“In my spare time, I like to surf Pinterest for new recipe ideas, curl up with a good book, binge watch “That 70’s Show” on Netflix, work on my photography or do a little creative writing. I also love spending time with my friends, family, and cockatiel named Butterbean.”
Favorite St. Louis activity, restaurant or spot?
“I live very close to Soulard so when the weather’s nice I’ll scooter on over there for some drinks and live music. If I had to pick one spot in all of St. Louis which I frequent the most, it would have to be Earthbound Brewery. It’s a great place to play board games while sipping on some unique brews. I kid you not, they had a Chicken and Waffles beer once which sounds strange but was actually great!”
What digital/design/dev trend are you the most excited about these days?
“I love that businesses are focusing on quality over quantity in terms of content. Many people make the mistake of thinking that they need to pump out as much content as possible in order to increase their ranking. This is a common misconception and ends up negatively affecting the user’s experience. People go online to look for quality answers to their questions and are way more likely to trust and become loyal to a brand if they produce quality content for their audience.”
Special talent you have?
I’m really good at pretending I know the lyrics to most songs. I also consider myself a skee ball and Mario Kart pro depending on the day.
Famous person, you’ve met?
Hmmm. Well, I met Waka Flocka on vacation in South Padre once. That’s pretty much it for my interaction with the rich and famous.
What’s something awesome about you that no one else knows?
I have a passion for the outdoors! I’ve been on numerous camping and hiking trips with my family since I was in an infant backpack. I’ve been to almost every National Park in the United States except for Yosemite, Glacier, and Sequoia. Hopefully, I’ll be checking them off my list soon!
I also love extreme sports, even if they don’t love me. So far I’ve tried white water rafting, surfing, skiing, four wheeling, mountain biking, rock climbing, water skiing, wakeboarding, and probably more that I can’t think of right now. I’m definitely not a pro at any of them but the process of failing then slowly getting better is beyond rewarding. I’ve also had some gnarly bruises to show for it.
