Matchbox Design Group is excited to announce that we’ve placed in the Indigo Award competition this year! We entered three of our latest design and development projects in the competition for judging. We won the Indigo Award in Web Design, Professional Integrated Graphic Design and Professional Website Design.
The Indigo Award is an annual design competition open to both professional and student designers across the globe. The competition is judged by creatives with significant contributions to design. They accept work from the following categories: graphic design, digital design (UI/UX), mobile and game design. The panel’s goal is to reward “outstanding and groundbreaking work.”
Knife & Flag Indigo Gold Award, Integrated Graphic Design Category
Our Knife and Flag branding campaigns for social media placed Gold in the integrated graphic design category. Out of 500 submissions in this category alone, not only was this project recognized as a “gold” design, it has also been placed in the running for the best overall award in the Graphic Design category.
Knife and Flag makes high-quality aprons and accessories for artisans and craftspeople. Our goal was to soften their original black and white, gritty look with some color to make the product more accessible to different markets without alienating brand loyalists.
In the website design category, we entered two projects: the Fox Architects website redesign and the e-commerce site for Daily Disco. Out of 300 total submissions for ui/ux design, two of our submissions were awarded with Fox Architects placing gold at the category level and Daily Disco placing silver.

We’ve worked with Fox Architects for ten years and we were excited to bring a new site to life for them. Our goal was to create an idea-forward website that celebrated not only the depth of Fox’s project work but also the level of knowledge and innovative thinking behind it.
Fox Architects Indigo SilverAward, Website Design Category (E-Commerce)
Daily Disco is a funky & eclectic jacket embroidery and pin shop owned by designer Abbey Eilermann. Exuding an infectious, bubbly style and personality, the design is meant to evoke that same feeling for her new e-commerce site.
