Writing has always been her passion and in this unique position she gets to combine that passion with the practicality and importance of SEO. Her ability to formulate well-optimized content for a variety of industries makes her an essential member of our SEO team.

Get to Know Rachel Better

Rachel Jurina grew up in Elgin, a city outside of Chicago. She graduated from Southern Illinois University (SIUC) with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Sociology. When entering the working world, Rachel wasn’t exactly sure what she wanted to do but was sure of one thing – she loved to write. Rachel started her career in advertising and quickly transitioned into the world of digital marketing. During that transition she continued to fine tune her writing skill and immersed herself in the world of SEO which is eventually what led her to Matchbox.

Rachel is a part of our SEO team, but she will often divide her time between our SEO and website clients. Like most members of the Matchbox team, she wears many hats, but her specialty is content creation and strategy. Some of her common responsibilities include creating content strategies for SEO clients, writing and optimizing blog posts or landing page content, creating site maps, conducting Google optimize experiments, editing content, etc. Basically all things content with lots of strategy sprinkled in!

Rachel loves that businesses are focusing on quality over quantity in terms of content. Many people make the mistake of thinking that they need to pump out as much content as possible in order to increase their ranking. This is a common misconception and ends up negatively affecting the user’s experience. People go online to look for quality answers to their questions and are way more likely to trust and become loyal to a brand if they produce quality content for their audience.

  1. Describe yourself in 3 words

    “Adventurous, Passionate and Goofy”

  2. What do you do in your spare time?

    “I love the great outdoors so I like to spend a lot of my spare time camping and hiking. When I’m not climbing rocks or cozying up around a campfire, I like to surf Pinterest for new recipe ideas, curl up with a good book, work on my photography or play video games.”

  3. Do you have any special talents?

    “I’m pretty good at the limbo and make a mean guacamole”

  4. What’s the coolest place you’ve ever visited?

    “I’m a travel junkie so that’s a tough one… but Thailand is definitely top of my list! I snorkeled in the Phi Phi islands, bargained at night markets in Bangkok and hung out with elephants in Chiang Mai. It was absolutely amazing!”

  5. What's something awesome about you that no one else knows?

    “I started collecting shot glasses as a kid because I thought they were just cute little cups and so now I have an extensive collection from all sorts of random places like Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Hershey, Pennsylvania.”
