As our Account Manager, Colby will help us continue to keep the clients happy and go above and beyond to deliver an extra level of awesome client service. Aside from growing our accounts, Colby also brings a lot of creativity and business expertise to the table, which stems from running her own photography business for the past few years — on top of working in the agency world.
Meet Colby Craig – Account Manager
Describe yourself in three words.
“Friendly, creative, weird.”
Where did you grow up?
“I grew up about two hours southeast of St. Louis in a small town in Southern Illinois called Du Quoin. We had three stoplights. There may be four now.”
What do you do at Matchbox Design Group?
What do you like most about working here?
“I really enjoy the creativity and the openness you get with this team. Everyone is encouraged to challenge each other’s work to make it the best it can possibly be for our clients.”
What did you do before working at Matchbox Design Group?
“I have been working as a photographer for the last six years in the St. Louis/Metro East area. I have also been an account manager with a couple of great companies in St. Louis while building my photography business. In between all of that, I’ve also been raising an incredible little girl.”
Colby Craig’s Spare Time?
What do you do in your spare time?
“Spare time? What’s that? When I’m not working at Matchbox, I’m spending time with my four year old or shooting portraits. I try to pepper in some live music, baseball games and patio drinking here and there.”
Favorite St. Louis activity, restaurant or spot?
“I absolutely love Forest Park. This city is so fortunate to have assets like this. You can take a trip to the zoo, rent a paddle boat and see a Picasso in the same afternoon. How fantastic is that? I will have to admit that a sunset by the Grand Basins is probably my favorite St. Louis activity. The cotton-candy-colored sky … you can’t beat it. It’s incredible. Also, you’ll never see me turn down Mission Taco — the best!”
What Is Exciting About New Trends?
Digital/design/dev trend you are most excited about these days?
“I hear the word ‘human’ a lot in the marketing world these days and at first, I’ll admit, I found it a bit self-indulgent. But honestly, I cannot think of a better trend to happen to the digital world. I am excited to see brands really find their voices by looking within. We are finally starting to see the faces and hear the voices of people who actually work at the companies they’re representing. The days of the spam-bot tweet machines are dying. It’s refreshing.”
Special Talents and Personal Questions
Special talent you have?
“I have been a musical theater nerd since my first appearance in the Wizard of Oz in third grade. I consider myself a decent singer on a good day. I consider myself a great singer after I’ve had a few drinks.”
Famous person you’ve met?
“I got my picture taken with Elvis at Graceland once.”
What’s something awesome about you that no one else knows?
“I know all of the words to every Garth Brooks song.”
